About the lobby.

I'm reading the documentation and it says that a lobby functionality is already included with the API, and that I don't have to do any of that.

That's cool, but it also says that the development server doesn't have a lobby, so the question is, how do I start making my game? Do I just start doing my thing ignoring all that stuff because it will work? Would the example projects get a lobby if they were uploaded as they are?

Ok, so those were three questions :P I have done some games already, but this would be my first multiplayer online game, so I'm kinda confused in certain areas.

Yep, Just upload the games, and the lobby is attached to your game automatically.
